Estero Bay Report

Capt. Jon Fetter
June 18, 2015
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

With rising water temperatures and high tides the fishing was pretty tough this past week. Anglers looking for action should move to the passes and nearshore waters. There are plenty of snapper in the deeper water of the passes and shrimp tipped jig heads work fine. Drifting this water will also produce whiting, spotted seatrout, and sharks. The nearshore waters are teaming with sharks and all it takes is a little blood in the water. Anchor up in 12-15 feet of water get some bloody chum in the water and wait. Blacktips, spinners, and even some large nurse sharks are waiting. While waiting, anglers can bounce shrimp tipped jig heads on the bottom for whiting, silver trout, and the occasional jack. If you want to pick up a snook or two try getting some pinfish on the flats and free line them around the floating docks near the passes. 3/0 circle hooks will work best and beef up your leader as there are some big females hanging around.
