Estero Bay Report

Capt. Jon Fetter
August 25, 2016
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The bite in and around Estero Bay has picked up. The redfish are starting to move around the oyster bars and mangrove islands in the mornings due to the cooler water. Cut bait like ladyfish and cut pinfish seem to work best on 2/0 circle hooks soaking on the bottom. There are also plenty of snook hanging around the floating docks and willing to take free lined whitebait on 3/0 circle hooks. Snapper are also feeding on these baits and some are pushing 12 inches. There have been some juvenile tarpon in the backbay and free lining whitebaits on 3/0 circle hooks is the ticket. The nearshore waters are teaming with sharks and any cut bait will work. Anchor up get your chum out and wait. They will show up soon. There have been hammerheads, spinners, blacktips, and nurse all in the mix.
