Estero Bay Report

Capt. Jon Fetter
January 14, 2017
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The past weeks wind, cooler temps, and low tide conditions made it difficult for most anglers but the die hard's managed some fish. The seatrout are still feeding on the grass flats in 3-5 feet of water. Shrimp under popping corks seemed to be the go-to method for locating and catching them. Anglers will also pick up ladyfish and jacks with this set-up. The ladyfish proved vital for redfish action as cut bait was the ticket to getting them. Setting up off oyster bars and mangrove points on higher water and throwing cut bait provided some redfish action. Patience was the key as it took some time to get the scent out to the fish. Sheepshead seem to be the fish of choice as the water cooled. Shrimp tipped jig heads thrown around mangrove islands and other blow down seemed to produce the best opportunity.
