Estero Bay Report

Capt. Jon Fetter
April 9, 2017
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing has been tough for anglers in and around Estero Bay for the past week. There are some opportunities for seatrout and ladyfish on the grass flats. Anglers should look for 3-5 feet of water the cleaner the better. Shrimp under popping corks seems to work best for both locating them and catching them. Drifting instead of anchoring has produced a better bit as the more water you can cover the better your chances. When the wind allows anglers to fish the passes, there have been pompano, seatrout, ladyfish, and small jacks in abundance. Bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads or shrimp under popping corks will work best. There have been spanish mackerel in the deeper water and casting and retrieving shrimp tipped jig heads is the ticket.
