Estero Bay Report Week Of November 11th

Capt. Jon Fetter
November 16, 2013
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Time for anglers to switch to the "Low and Slow" technique. Fishing their baits low in the water column and slow across the bottom. As the water cools the fish will not move quickly and won't chance baits as much so changing fishing techniques will increase your catching chances. Fish for redfish along mangrove islands and oyster bars with shrimp tipped jig heads. Try to fish strong incoming or outgoing tides as this will have them moving around looking for food. Seatrout should start to show up over the grass flats in 3-5 feet of water. Search for them using shrimp under a popping cork set-up. Anglers will also pick up jacks and ladyfish with this method. Snapper and sheepshead will start their winter time feeding habits and will provide plenty of rod bending action. Look for them around any structure or mangrove island. #1 or 1/0 circle hooks with just enough shrimp to cover the hook is the best way to go about hooking these bait stealers. As they bite slowly raise your rod until you feel weight on the end then start the retrieve. If they are hungry sometimes that is all it take to get them to snatch the bait and become hooked.
