Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

With water temperatures reaching 90 plus in the shallow back country waters, fishing has slowed down once the hot afternoons set in. Getting an early start has proved to give anglers their best shot at quality fish inshore. Snook fishing is still good, however catching fish in the midday hours proved to be very tough. When targeting these fish early, both live bait and artificials have worked well. Using twitch baits like Hoogies, Stinky fingers, and gulps when live bait was tough to find did the job. Redfishing has been good and artificial baits are still working as long as your willing to put the time into them. If throwing lures is not your thing the old reliable cut bait will get their attention. Tarpon are still being found, as our local fish cruise around looking for schools of bait fish to harass on the beaches and in the sounds. most fish jumped this week came of cut baits soaked on the bottom or by throwing artificial lures early in the morning or late at night.
