Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last week was a great week to be on the water! Plenty of species were fired up with the water temps continuing to rise. Inshore the redfish bite was strong. Best results for these spot-tailed drag pullers came from fishing mangrove shorelines with good current and lots of mullet activity. Snook are coming out of there winter homes in full force. Snook up to 38" and many slot size fish where caught mostly on live bait, but topwater caught its share. The trout bite continues to be strong throughout Pine Island. When fishing for trout you'll have to sort through to little ones, but eventually a 4-6 lber will show up. Big jack crevalle have made their way inshore and off, so make sure you have plenty of line or your reel or you may not have any line left on your reel when a big boy crashes the party. If offshore is your gig, bonita are schooling up a few miles out and are a blast, since most are 10-15lbs. Permit, cobia, mackerel, and even tarpon are available so keep an eye out for birds diving on the bait.
Target Species:

cobia, bonita, jack crevalle, spotted seatrout, permit, tarpon
