Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing was great before Friday's cold front! Water temps got up to 82 degrees before this weekend's front dropped things back down to 69. Tue, Wed, and Thur were excellent! Nearshore fishing was fantastic; Cobia, Kingfish, Spanish Mackerel, Bonita, and Permit could be found cruising in water as shallow as 12 ft. Snook up to 35" went crazy during those three days along most of the outer islands from Estero Bay to North Pine Island. Most fish were caught whenever the current and wind lined up together on incoming tides. If you're looking for linesiders, find white bait around 3 inches and throw freebies before casting out one of these baits attached to a 2/0 circle hook rigged to a 30lb fluorocarbon leader. Redfish are still biting good regardless of the change in Friday's weather; however, when you find churned up water that looks like chocolate milk the bite is definitely tougher. Trout are still biting good from Sanibel North but did slow down South in lite off the most recent front.
Target Species:
