Redfish Bite Slow in Estero Bay, Trout Bite Is Hot

Capt. Greg Stamper
May 5, 2015
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week's front changed things up a bit with cloudy water in Estero Bay and wind that mixed up the tides. The redfish bite got tough just after the front, but it started to pick up again on Sunday. Cut baits and live shrimp thrown under the mangroves worked best. Snook fishing around Pine Island, Sanibel, and Cape Coral continues to be good with live bait on incoming tides. Snook up to 38" have been consistent for anglers that put some time into it. Trout and mangrove snapper continue to be very active making up for a slow redfish bite from time to time. The tarpon are still out there; however, high winds kept my anglers away from the oceanside for most of the week.
