Redfish, Snook and Trout Action Heating Up in Estero Bay

Capt. Greg Stamper
April 14, 2015
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Plenty of species are eating and the weather been great all week. When fishing the typical weather patterns this time of the year anglers will be able to fish offshore, nearshore, and In the backcountry all in one day. Winds will typically come from the East early in the mornings allowing anglers to fish the wrecks, reefs, and tarpon grounds. As the afternoon starts up typically the wind will shift and blow from the west which is a great time to be in the backcountry targeting Redfish, Snook, and Trout. Anglers this week continued to take advantage of the excellent snook fishing with plenty of upper slot and over slot fish caught . Using live pilchards free lined on a 2/0 circle hook continues to catch the most numbers, however cut ladyfish, live pinfish, and topwater plugs took their share too. The Redfish bite is back on, and fish of all sizes are being caught. Pompano are still bouncing around the sand bars along the beaches and passes, using small jigs tipped with shrimp will get their attention and probably some trout too.

Target Species:

redfish, snook, trout
