Tight lines in SWFL

Capt. Greg Stamper
May 18, 2016
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

It was a great week of fishing! There was definitely plenty of options for lots of different species on all but 2 days this week. Several charters caught up to 16 different kinds of fish as we moved around areas looking for the normal Snook, Redfish, Trout backcountry slam. Flounder up to 20 inches showed up both inshore and along the near shore wrecks and reefs. King fish are hanging out along the pods of bait from 20 feet out. Tarpon fishing was hit or miss as tarpon fishing can be, but fish where along the beaches several times this week. Snook fishing is excellent, with fish up to 40 inches being caught mostly on live bait, with a few on artificial lures. Redfishing in Estero bay was ok, with a bit of a better bite in the Pine Island corridor. Trout fishing continues to be good with lots of action in the 4-6 foot marks along passes and over grass beds.
