Tis the Season!

Capt. Greg Stamper
December 4, 2016
Estero Bay - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing with the exception of a few post frontal days has been good. Snook, trout, pompano, and jacks have all been plentiful most of the last three weeks. The transition to Winter has certainly begun, and a jump in bluefish and flounder catches over the last 2 weeks, has moved us into a new stretch of fishing. Sheepshead should be showing up in full force soon, as a few good ones are already showing up in the back waters pre-spawn. Trout have been abundant both in Estero bay and Pine Island sound. Lots of big snook have claimed thier winter residences in the back country and river systems. We caught a bunch of 18"-24" snook all last week, and lost a few monsters in the high 30's low 40's range. Redfishing hasn't been so good recently, not sure what's up with that. Usually there's a big push of smaller ones coming through around this time. We did manage to catch a few reds though, and they were solid upper slot fish. Tight lines Capt Greg
