Everglades City, Chokoloskee and Everglades National Park

Everglades City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Everglades National Park Update 7/3/07

Summer is, obviously in full swing now. It is hot in the middle part of the day, but it is so nice in the mornings. I love this time of year.

We have to get up early to catch the bite, but we have been successful getting the snook to hit topwaters. I had been throwing smaller baits until recently ... then out came the "super spooks". The average size of the fish went up about six pounds. I love the sound of slurping snook in the mornings!

Just as the rains started, we went through a week where I thought the snook would starve to death they had lock jaw so bad. I think that we are through that now.

Sight fishing for both snook and redfish has been excellent ... Both inside and outside. The water rises fast this time of year, so our window is narrow on the outside ...We always have the backcountry.

The second kayak transport boat is almost ready ... waiting on the welder. I will post some pictures once it is ready.

Many of the scheduled camping trips have booked. However, we just added two trips. We will be on Cape Sable Camping/Fishing Feb. 15, 16 & 17 and camping outside of Wizard Creek fishing the full moon Dec 21 and 22. (There should be some great snook fishing then). Come join us. These trips are a hoot!

WHAT'S New ...

Please congratulate the winners of this month's drawing for the free fishing trip!! Gary Robinson (St. Pete, FL) & Jim Dolan (Allen, TX) Thomas Todd (Daphne, AL) & Stephen Moon (Hebron, KY) were the May winners and Gene Strong & Stanford Knowles won in April. Remember, you must register for each drawing to be eligible to win. Click here for more info on the Kayak Fishing Trips

Kayak Fishing on the Yak Attack ... During the summer, we are doing trips on most of the weekends. We do have the mid week dates posted. The Crystal River Trip and the Suwannee River House Boat trip is booked full. We still have availability on the July 18, 19, 27 and August 13 dates, however. If these dates do not work for you, please call us and we will work out ones that do! The fall schedule will be posted very soon. Click here for the Yak Attack Fishing Schedule

July fishing forecast ... fish early and high ... Click to read more.

October begins the camping season in Everglades National Park. Overnighters in the Park are a blast. Several of the camping/fishing trips are booked full already. Feb 15th, 16th & 17th, we will be camping on Cape Sable again Dec 21st and 22nd we will be fishing Wizard Creek .... great snook fishing. (Read more about out trip last February fishing amongst crocodiles.) If you are interested in putting together a private camping/fishing trip, please give us a call.

If you are planning a fall fishing trip, please contact us sooner than later. The fall calendar is filling up. (To the left is Kevin Thomas of Houston with a very nice Everglades snook caught in May on his "special" spoon. This 20 lb girl was released unharmed)

We are adding a second Yak Attack (The Yak Attack 2) to the fleet this month. Most weekends we have had to dedicate the boat to the trips open to anyone who wished to join. With the new kayak chariot in operation, we will now be able to do private trips on the weekends as well!

There is more than just fishing in Everglades City and Chokoloskee Island ... bring the family. Be sure to see "What's New" on the Everglades Area Tours site ... click here. Look for us on the Weather Channel in October and PBS's Wild Florida now. www.EvergladesAreaTours.com
