Everglades City, Chokoloskee and Everglades National Park

Everglades City - Saltwater Fishing Report

Marquesas Three Day Overnight Kayak Fishing Trip

We just returned from the two August EKF Special Destination Trips. The first was two the Lower Keys the second was to the Marquesas.

The Lower Keys trip is wonderful for couples and one that we do every August and May. I think, however, that I have eaten enough seared yellow-finned tuna, as well as, all the lobster that I can take until next year.

This Marquesas Keys trip was the first one that we ever have done. This was our shake down trip. I have fished the Marquesas for many, many years, but always in a flats boat or a center console … never the kayaks. The yaks were superb!

The fishing was great … lots of smaller tarpon and big permit. The bonefish were there, but a lot tough to get them to eat. We had some overcast conditions and the bones typically saw us about the same time we saw them!

The tarpon action at sunrise and sunset was awesome

I will post some pictures when I get them from Capt. Hitchcock.

We arrive in Key West, sometime during the day on Day One. That evening you can play and party in Key West, but we leave before daybreak the next day for the Marquesas. We should have the yaks in the water by 8:00 am on Day Two. We fish all that day, all that night (if you wish), all the next day & night and then the morning of the last day. We are staying on a 43’ Torres with an excellent air conditioner!!!

Factor in the lodging in Key West, lodging on the boat, three days/two nights of fishing, the excellent seafood dinners and the $799 for the trip is a great value!
