Late Season Cold Front

Capt. Rob Ottlein
April 21, 2008
Flagler Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

A cold front that moved through northeast Florida the beginning of last week put a damper on the ares fishing. Along with the cold front came winds that were gusting up to 30 mph. On top of this we were also confronted with the full moon. I don't know about you but in my 46 years of fishing I have never done well on a full moon. I figure with the beautiful weather predicted for this week and the moon beginning it's down cycle the fishing ought to turn on by Wednesday of this week. I think we've seen the last of any cold fronts here.

I did have one trip last week and we did ok. Caught lots of fish but not the size and species I was looking for. Lot's of trout but only one keeper. A bunch of big ladyfish, jacks and bluefish. I think the cold front gave my target species, snook, lockjaw. Could'nt find any reds either. Not much to report on this week due to the conditions but I'm sure things will really turn on this week.
