Back to cold winter pattern!

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

This past week there was some good fishing days and then there was Saturday.

On Monday I fished with my brother Jeff and his sons Mark and Andrew down at Flamingo. The tides were a negative 0.6 which meant no water except in the channels, the winds were N.W. and it was cool. We fished out west in the deeper channels picking up Black Drum, the winds came down so we ran out in the Gulf of Mexico for Triple Tails some thing they had never down . They just bought a boat and want to learn Flamingo, it takes time lots of time! We bounced around catching Pompano and a few Triple tails and then ran off shore to a pile where they were happy catching Lane Snappers, Mangroves and Grunts. We had a Blue Runner out behind the boat and it got hit. The fish ran for a bit and cut us off cleanly. It was possibly a Kingfish because we had several sky rocketing around us. We ran in and finished up the day with Trout, Jacks, and, ladyfish.

This past week there was some good fishing days and then there was Saturday. The forecast kept most people off the water Saturday which was nice but the fish didn't really cooperate. We started out @ 8am and were hit by a squall 15 minutes into fishing. We put on rain jackets and ran from it but it was all day. I am with Nathan and his Alex from Baltimore and this was much better weather than up there. We fished hard had a couple good bites which the fish let go. We moved around and got out of the wind and found some Tarpon rolling in a creek. We threw live Shrimp and Gulps on jigs at them but the Mangrove Snappers were faster than the Tarpon. We went to find some bigger fish to bend the rods The Trout, Jacks and Ladyfish cooperated and after catching them for an hour I asked if they would like to try some thing else, that's when I noticed this white out of rain coming at us (picture below). The winds were @20-25 mph all day and then they picked up it got nasty so we called it a day.

This week will be cold most of the week sending us back into the winter pattern. The Tarpon fishing after dark has been spectacular with big Shrimp runs going on, this week should be no different.

I have openings for either day or night trips, give me a call at 305 333 8149
