Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

070312

I am with Bill Wen and his son Mike fishing N. Biscayne Bay. They weren't in town for very long so we had to go under tough conditions, the winds were 25 -30 mph. I went to all the protected spots I knew and managed to catch Jacks, Ladyfish, Mangroves Snappers, Bluefish and Barracuda's. We saw a few Tarpon but had no luck getting them to eat. We caught all these fish on "Twitch N Raps" .

I am with friend and accountant Fred Ortiz today fishing back in Whitewater Bay. This morning we have beautiful clear ski's in the high 60's. We made our way up to Whitewater and made a few cast and got into big Trout we caught them for an hour 2 at a time. The ride to Flamingo is long enough so I always try to get into some kind of bite before riding around to much. I hit a few areas looking for Tarpon in Whitewater Bay and continued hitting points along the way. It took a while but we got into some really big laid up Tarpon, they were thick but spooky in clear water. Fred's dreams to hook a big Tarpon on fly rod so we tried, unfortunately the Ladyfish were eating his fly before the Tarpon could get to it. We stayed on them for a few hours and Fred caught 50 Ladyfish in the process, he had a blast. I said let go get a few Redfish so we headed to a shoreline I like. We got into more Trout Jacks and Ladyfish while waiting for a Redfish bite. The tide was starting to move in and the fish turned on we caught a few nice Reds and it was tide to head home.

It is that time of year where the fish school up if we find one we usually find a school. The fish at Flamingo are already stacked up in the holes. The Gulf of Mexico is loaded with bait the Mackerels, Jacks, Bluefish and Ladyfish are out there chasing them which gives you plenty of action. The pilchard schools are being terrorized by all thelisted species great for kids and people who like to just bend their rods.

Miami Beach is about ready to get jammed packed with tourist and Tarpon, hopefully I can introduce them to each other. There will be loads of other species in Government Cut that we catch as by catch.

If you need a day off or just want to bend your rods give me a call at 305 333 8149.
