Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
I hope everyone had a Safe and Happy New Year! The fishing down in the Glades has been pretty good to great on most days. With the last few weeks being so warm, the fish seemed to be a little confused on where to go and at times a little finicky. Now as I write this report, we are experiencing our first real cold front of the season, and that will definitely concentrate the fish. When this happens it usually heats up the bite again. The snook and reds will start to group up in the backcountry and some great sightfishing can occur on those bright and sunny winter days. When the fish get in there backcountry haunts, they tend to eat really good.
For the night tarpon scene, this cold front is exactly what we need for the fish to move into the inlets, where I like to fish for them. Now that I have the 20ft Pathfinder, fishing in downtown Miami will be done with ease and comfort. This is a great trip during week, all you have to do is jump on the boat right after work, and enjoy an evening of pulling on some big fish! The tides will start to be ideal again on Jan. 12th and will go for 5 or 6 days after that. Then they will be pretty late at night, which also can be alot of fun, if your up for that.
Give me a call to get on the water!
Tight lines,
Capt. Jason Sullivan
