Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
Fall is finally here in South Florida! The humidity seems to be gone and we have our northeast winds and bluebird skies. This is a great time to be down in South Florida. On the fishing side, it has been very good. The water temperatures have dropped a little bit and seems to have turn on the bite. These types on conditions, with great sunlight, has been ideal for sightfishing in the backcountry of the Everglades. We have had lots of great shots and have caught some quality fish.
The big tarpon are still around. We jumped 12 fish this week up to 120lbs. We have hooked them on fly and plugs. They are pretty thick in certain areas and definitely eating. This time of year, when we start getting our cold fronts every few days, can be some of the best tarpon fishing we have. We when get those warmer days in between fronts, they flood the Everglades looking for food. Some of my favorite fishing all year.
