Fish are around you just have to get there!

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

80714

I went down to Flamingo with my buddy Bruce to just "play around" , we started out on a giant school of Mullet. There were a few big blow ups in there but most of it looked like Sharks but we kept casting. We had a couple good boils by Trout, Jacks and a few others we didn't see. We moved off the Mullet schools and found Tarpon rolling everywhere and that's when we put a few fish in the boat to break the ice. We caught Snook, Jacks, hooked Sharks on plugs and spooked Tarpon by casting to close. The second area we went to was loaded with Sharks, the Tarpon were in the middle of all these Sharks. We made some good cast but the Jacks and Ladyfish were much quicker to get the lure than the Tarpon. We kept moving around because it was hot catching a few more Snook and got into a couple really big Tripletails. On the last spot we caught some decent Mangrove snappers the largest at 16 inches, the lightning started and we called it a morning.

I am with Greg, his wife Shelly and little kids Peyton and Luke in N. Biscayne Bay, I had netted some Pilchards and we were off to catch some fish. The first couple spots were slow but had a couple Trout come up on our baits along with some Mangrove Snappers. The next spot I started to chum up fish with the live pilchards The big Jacks showed up first and Peyton( all 40 lbs.) of her had her hands full with a 6 lb. Jack, she had to run around the boat several times but caught it all by herself. It was constant the Jacks destroying the live chummers, Luke( 3yrs.old) rod doubled over and had something trying to pull him out of the boat. Greg held on to him but he kept winding and eventually land a really big Mangrove Snapper, Its funny but all of a sudden this spot has been producing these big Snappers. We continued to bend the rods and keep the kids busy but every once in a while shelly would hook up a big one. We had some Bull Sharks move in and eat a couple of our baits and there were a handful of Tarpon rolling around the boat but showed no interest. We were on a big "super full moon" so the Tarpon were probably full from the night before. The kids had enough so we called it and headed back to Marina.

The next few nights The big moon could produce a good Tarpon /Snook bite in the Bay, last week in Marco I noticed a ton a shrimp moving at night could happen here!

Ill be out this week so Ill find out,
