Fishing is Good

Capt. Jim Hobales
April 11, 2011
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

April 1 - 10

I'm a little behind on the reports but that's because I have been really busy, heres a break down on what's been biting!

4-1-11

The Cramptons from England are in Miami to bend rods and we did, We fished Tarpon all morning until a storm chased us off them we ran to N. Biscayne bay netted bait and caught a some big Jacks in the inlet and had a big Snook on until it wrapped in the pilings. They also caught some Trout to 5 lbs, Barracudas and Snappers.

4-2-11

Flamingo with Fred Ortiz, we caught Redfish, Sharks,Ladyfish and Trout and were frustrated by the Tarpon not biting.

4-4-11

Chris Buttafucco and Todd brought there sons and we bent rod's all day. They caught big Sharks, Trout, Jack's, Ladyfish and Redfish.

4-7-11

Im with Michell, Robert and Guy from France. We had an interesteing day and caught allot of fish. We started out catching @ 20 Ladyfish for bait. They caught tons of Jacks and Trout while doing this and didn't want to leave until I said 'Tarpon". We got out to the Gulf and Robert hooked into a 100 plus lb Bull Shark, the Tarpon were scarce so we moved. The next spot was loaded with Tarpon and we put out some bait which got ate. They missed 3 or 4 but Michell was catching everything else on a popping cork and Shrimp. He had at least 10 cast in a row where he caught a fish, mostly Trout and Redfish. The Sharks moved in so we moved out further in the Gulf where they were rolling. We had a Tarpon double on at one time and Robert was on the back of the boat constanly hooked up to Sharks.

they were worn out and asked to go in!

4-8-11

I am in Marco Island with my partners Paul and Bruce fishing the Backwater series tournament. We prefished just to get our timing down on Friday, we caught a bunch of Reds and 4 really nice Snook to 34 inches

4-9-11

Backwater series Tournament day, at 645 am we were off from Coon key and ran to Lostman's Key area. We needed to Redfish today, we had 5 fish in the boat in the first 5 minutes but only one was a keeper. We got into a big school of Reds but there were some Snook mixed in, when the Snook spooked the Reds spooked as well. We decided to run to another spot and instantly caught our second keeper. From there on we caught Redfish after Redfish all day long, the only problem was they were either 16 inches or 28-29 inches. We had several break offs and I had one cone undone which would of moved us up quite a bit. We weighed in 8.32 lbs which won't win but we finished in the top 10. We caught over 30 Redfish so we will just build on this for next time.

4-10-11

I am with Greg and his 3 yr daughter Peyton amd Bruce and his 3 yr old son Manning. We just fished around N. Bay where Greg lives and got into Tarpon we had several baits get hit but know real hook ups. The 20 lb Jacks were busting up Mullet and we couldn't get a bait into them. We ended up with some Cudas and Trout and called it a morning.
