Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
This past Sunday I hit up Flamingo first starting out in the back where we headed deep into Hells Bay. We found lots of Redfish cruising along the mangrove shorelines and pushing on the shallow mud flats. After making just a few casts, Grant found himself hooked up with a nice Hells Bay Red! The midnight chartruese Bass Assassins seemed to be doing the trick
! After the action died out we decided to switch it up, we had such beautiful weather, the shallow flats of Florida Bay were calling our names. Out front the weather was perfect but there was one thing missing, WATER! Cruising through the channel we spooked a massive school of Reds, since that was the only place that had water to hold em I decided to quicly shut down and poll after them in the channel! Luckily there was not that much traffic out front, one passing skiff would have shut us down fast! After polling for about 10 minutes I saw a big nasty tail about a 100 ft away, Mike quickly grabbed the fly rod and the Red continued tailing and mudding right towards us, the moment of truth came and Mike layed down a perfect cast with the bug, CHOMP he was on!
Moments like that remind us why we do what we do. During these months sometimes old man winter gives a break and reminds us that spring isn't that far away! I'll be headin out there again this week, talk to ya then.............Capt. Joe!
