Flamingo Fishing Report

Capt. Jason Sullivan
September 1, 2016
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

We have definitely received our fair share of rain in the Everglades over the last week or so. With having so much rain, in my opinion, keeps the tarpon around. There has been some tarpon when the tides are favorable on the Gulf Coast and also some fish in the interior of the Glades. With a huge amount of rain fall over the last few days, the baby tarpon fishing should really take off. It has been pretty good for the babies at first light, but really slows down in the afternoon due to the high water temperatures. The rain we have gotten should keep the water temps down.

Sight fishing for redfish and snook in the backcountry still remains a good option. A lot of redfish mudding around on low water. The key is to find low water because once that water gets up, they scatter and are sometimes hard to find.

The big tarpon will be around until the cold fronts start rolling through. September is a great month to fish the Glades. A lot of bait around and most days you have the park to yourselves!

I have plenty of availability this month, so give me a call to get out on the water.

All the best,
