Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

This week was a bit different than the past couple of weeks. It was still chilly, but we had a break from the howling wind for a few days this past week which made for some intense sight fishing. Most of the fish we have been finding have been in some extremely shallow water. We have been putting the Dolphin Renegade to the test and going in so shallow you have to weave through mangrove shoots just to get into the fish. We fished east of flamingo, early morning for the redfish up on the flats. We had some sweet shots at fish tailing, laid up and pushing wakes. We even had some double headers with the fly rod on one fish and spinning/artificial
on another. At around 10:00-11:00am the redfish bite slowed down so we changed it up and we fished shallow shorelines and islands were we had some more shots at redfish and caught snook, trout, snapper and jacks. The hot bait this week was a DOA Cal Jerk bait in silver mullet color rigged weedless. The hot fly was a "chernobyl redfish" which can be picked up at Don's Bait and Tackle in Homestead,Fl. Poling extremely quietly and making a soft presentation to not spook the fish will always have good result's. With the calm days between the fronts, and some sunshine to warm thing's up we should be able to look forward to some excellent fishing. These days between the fronts make for some great days on the water in south florida, with cool temperatures making it comfortable to fish all day. Therefore, it's time for me to get back to the place I call paradise.....
