3/21/09 Flamingo- Newbie To Pro

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Newbie to pro all in a few hours. This saturday my friend Lisandra joined me for a fun day of fishing. This would be Lisandra's first time in Flamingo and her first time fishing ever. After going through the basics of the spinning rod and learning how it all works, she was casting away. Thirty minutes go by and she was casting and retrieving a 1/4 ounce jig tipped with a shrimp like a pro. Soon she tells me she feels a bite and sure enough she was hooked up. It turned out to be a nice sheepshead which got away right next to the boat. She wasn't to happy about that, she was on a mission though and was going to get revenge. After dodging a big storm we arrived to our next spot. We had to wait for the tide to switch at this spot, but she wasted no time and before the tide switched she was hooked up. After a short tug of war she landed her first redfish and first fish ever! She was excited and after a few pictures again she wasted no time and went back to fishing. She finished the day with her first redfish, snook, a few snapper and two catfish. I am glad to have been a part of her first fishing trip and enjoyed it as much as she did.
All the fish were caught on a 1/4 ounce jig tipped with a live shrimp. Once this cloudy weather clears through and we get some constant warming and the water temp's start to rise, the fishing is only going to get better. Give me a call and we can set up a trip you wont soon forget!
