Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
The weather forecast was calling for some windy conditions out of the North East. My plan was to go do some sight fishing as
usual east of flamingo. When I got to the marina, I noticed it was jam packed. I unloaded the boat and began our journey east of
flamingo. As I was running east I could see the mullet schools everywhere, and there was all kinds of activity roaming around
the flats. First spot we got to was slow with only jacks hammering our jerkbaits and some sharks cruising the flats. So we made a
quick adjustment according to the wind and sure enough there it was, REDFISH! With a perfect presentation the redfish was
landed and got a quick mugshot and right back into florida bay for a sweet release. Some parts of the day were slow, with jacks
and small cudas tearing up our jerkbaits which kept us somewhat entertained. We did manage a couple nice redfish and I had a
big sheephead take 5 live shrimp from me when I finally hooked him only to have the hook pull all in less than a foot of water.
The wind started to pick up so we packed it up and called it a day.
We also fished the ocean side of Key Largo on wednesday and found some tarpon ranging from 20lbs to 80lbs which
we ended up going 2 for 4 in 3 hours. Not bad for a afternoon trip in november.
