Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
Last week I was praising the weather gods for sunny afternoons and warm water. However, this week was a completely different story. Two cold fronts came through bringing high winds, low temperatures and scaring three of my four planned trips away. Luckily, the group I made it out with was from Chicago and literally laughed at my idea of a cold breeze. They had a great day! It is a shame the other trips cancelled, as the fish were definitely eating.

With six of us on a 22' Pathfinder XLTE, it was not a typical charter and certainly not a typical day in the Park. With wind chill, I imagine our morning run saw temperatures in the 30's... while they laughed, I cried. It was almost too much for this South Florida native, but it was soon forgotten with the familiar sound of pulling drag. We went far North, passed Lostman's River and into what seemed like forgotten territory. There was not a single boat within miles of us. Probing the bottom, they caught Black Drum, Redfish, Snook, Trout, Whiting & big Sheepshead the entire morning... often times doubling up. There were very few casts that were not met by a tugging fish. Later we made the trek down to the Cape to catch the turning tide and the fish-catching continued. The biggest Black Drum and Snook were caught within a minute of each other. We covered over 150 miles and caught tons of fish. It was definitely a great day for a couple of good fellas from Chicago... "Fugedaboudit"
Flamingo Fishing Forecast:
