Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
This week I did 3 trips during daylight hours but the full moon really took it's toll on the daytime fishing. The Tarpon were stacked up in the inlets here in Miami and my customers threw Mullet, Crabs, Shrimp, Pinfish, Herring and Pilchards only to be rejected. We caught Snook, big Trout, Jacks, Snappers, Barracudas, Groupers and Grunts.

I fished the Gulf of Mexico for Tarpon on Sunday and they were around in good numbers but scattered. When we did get into the them they just weren't interested. Karl, Jim and Sue worked hard but it seemed like the bite was south of Cape Sable on this day and I ran North. I spoke to several people at the dock who seemed to have good luck from First National Bank and south. Karl had some Big Trout on Sebille lures the biggest over 5 lbs.
The evening Tarpon fishing is the way to go around the full moons when possible, I know many of my customers come here for the sunshine and warmth and dont really complain to much but I do take it pretty hard. I want everyone that fishes with me to have a story to tell their friends. This week I should have a much better report.
Captain Jim Hobales was born and raised in South Florida. In the early years he learned to fish his home waters of Miami's Biscayne Bay and the Florida Keys.
