Great Fishing in Flamingo

Capt. Alan Sherman
May 15, 2013
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

It's the end of April here in South Florida and you would think that summer was right around the corner but as of this writing our weather is a lot like March instead of the end of April. With few cold fronts coming through when they should of its like the weather gods are trying to catch up and we are seeing strong fronts push into South Florida when they should almost be done. All of this crazy weather this year has really affected our fishing and I have really had to go way back into bag of tricks to put my people on quality fish. Working as hard as I can I have been able to do just that put my people on fish and the pictures speak for themselves.

One of the best areas that I have been fishing has been Flamingo. It requires a long car drive that I find very relaxing especially the part when you are in the Park and on the way home a stop at Roberts for a strawberry milk shake and some fresh produce just adds to the day. And don't forget all of the wildlife possibilities while you are in the Park. Eagles, crocodiles, pythons, deer, alligators, panthers, manatees, big sharks, sea turtles, bottle nose dolphins, and loads of fish and birds all are there to see. All that makes the drive worthwhile!

North and South Biscayne Bay have had enough sea trout with some close to six pounds plus bluefish, barracudas, tarpon, snook, barracudas and snappers to keep us happy.

The freshwater fishing has dropped off due to recent rains but nit was great for a few weeks.

All of our fish have been caught using Daiwa spinning reels, Suffix line and Key Largo rods.
My new 22' pathfinder powered by my Yamaha 250 SHO four stroke engines continues to please my clients.

The fishing is still great and so is the weather.
