Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Tarpon fishing down in Flamingo this past week has been really good. I fished a few days down in the park and we jumped multiple fish and landed quite a few. Both days we fished outfront around the islands and up the coast to find these tarpon. We threw flies at the midget tarpon and plugs at the 40-50lbers. Both sizes of fish ate pretty well.
Here are a few pictures of the tarpon that were jumped and landed from new clients that I fished this week.

Since Tropical Storm Isaac came through, it seems you have to work a little bit harder to find the redfish up on the flats. There are still plenty around to cast to; you just have to keep moving around until you locate a bunch.
Like I talked about in my last few reports, you have to find some tough access areas where the Largemouth and Peacocks are stacked up in the Everglades. Since the water has been so high, it has been tough fishing most popular areas of the Freshwater Glades. So finding these areas are extremely important when trying to locate fish. I normally fish out of a canoe when doing this, but yesterday I did a trip out of a kayak. We caught 30+ Largemouth and Peacocks on fly. On this trip we didn't get anything huge but we had a lot action and fun with a 4wt. This is a great trip for someone who is thinking about fly fishing to catch a lot of fish or someone who bass fishes with conventional tackle.

Shoot me an email or give me a call and set up a trip.
