Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
Fishing has been good to excellent in the Everglades National Park with quality catches of trout, redfish, snook, and drum. Inside waters around Whitewater Bay have been producing on windy days. We have been using soft plastic scent baits. I have switched to single hooks instead of using plugs with treble hooks for multiple reasons. In the area we have also come across Spanish mackerel, snapper, and grouper while jigging for snook. On the Florida Bay side of Flamingo there has been plenty of trout and redfish on grass flats and sandy edges. Lots of mackerel, bluefish, jacks, snapper and more mixed in.
Biscayne Bay waters have enjoyed a recent warm water trend during our ‘not much of a winter' in south Florida. There have been some pretty good catches of bonefish in the area. And a great tarpon bight at night around Miami. Anglers have been using live shrimp and crabs for success with these fish. I have also been shrimp fishing at night during full moons and it has been fun and rewarding. Alwys catch enough to eat and also to use for bait.
Boating season's peak is right around the corner and many locals and foreign buyers will be ready to "pull the trigger" on a boat. Purchasing a boat is an important decision and requires some knowledge and advance preparation. Call me if you have any questions. See you out on the water.
