Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

The wind has been blowing for almost 3 weeks, in that time it has been cold and rainy as well. This puts us right in the middle of a winter patter with our water temps from the lower 70's and into the upper 60's, this is not all bad. The fish have moved into deeper water down at Flamingo which is in Everglades National Park. The Redfish, Snook, Trout, Black drum and occasional Tarpon will be caught in these spots. The back country rivers have already produced some Grouper for me, although on the smaller side so far.
The bonus of the cool setting in early is going to be the fishing in Government Cut and along Miami Beach, The Tarpon are already in which is a few weeks earlier than normal. These fish get driven here by water temps and shrimp runs so its possible we are going to have a good season. Last year we never got low water temps which drives Mangrove Snapper, Groupers and other species into the Cut, plus the dredge was right in the middle which didn't really help much.
Biscayne Bay both north and south have fish depending on the weather. North bay is known for the big Trout and south Biscayne bay has everything from Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon on the Flats to Mutton, Mangrove Snappers and Groupers in the finger channels. On the worst days there is always something to catch.
If you are interested in fishing anywhere from North Miami Beach down to Key Largo or Everglades National Park (Flamingo) I can do it for you. I run a 2008 Pathfinder 22 tournament powered by a 2015 Yamaha 250 SHO for friends and families up to 4 persons. Caught Lookin Charters caters to families and will teach kids proper techniques as well as making sure they have a fun day and want to do it again. I recently purchased a Maverick HPX tunnel boat for fishing the flats of Biscayne Bay or Flamingo. This boat draws about 5 inches and will handle all my sight casting and fly fishing needs.
If you are interested in any of these options give me a call at 305 333 8149,
