Nasty Day on the Bay!

Capt. Jim Hobales
August 17, 2015
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I fished the Day on the Bay Tournament today with my son James and friend Mitch, it's a fun day raising money for scholarships. There are 9 species and the goal is to catch as many and as you can, measure up the inches and that how they determine a winner. We had a plan and stuck to it catching Snook, Tarpon and a nice Trout by 8:30 A.M..

The tournament was affected by rain and lightning all day but everyone seem to stay out and do pretty good. James had a few decent Tarpon, a decent Shark, Snapper and a small Snook for 106 inches. Mitch caught a nice 25 1/2 Redfish, 29 1/2 Snook, 19 inch Trout and a 14 inch Bass on the way out of the park. As a team they had a backcountry Grand Slam. We left with a bunch of awards biggest Snook, Bass, James was called up for top male 106.5 inches and Top Guide. We lost out on top team by 10 inches which was close. It was a fun day and it was allot of work but I think I have them ready for a tournament we are fishing next month!

Flamingo Fishing Forecast:

Tarpon are thick, and every thing else seem s to be catchable.
