Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Sorry for the lack of reports in the last weeks, I was on vacation then we had Tropical storm Isaac passed thru.

I got back on the water down at Flamingo today with friend and good client Karl Dragojolovic. We started out catching bait and moved to a couple areas that had been productive a few weeks back. Karl had a couple good bites but the fish let go. We caught a handful of Trout and Mangrove Snappers in the potholes. It took some running around and the tide change before we got on the mother load. We were using pinfish but they weren't getting hit, Karl started casting one of the "Twitch n Raps'" that were rigged up. It didn't take long and he got blasted by a nice Snook! This lasted for almost 2 hours, Karl was killing them. I couldn't unhook them fast enough! Karl also had a few Redfish up to 4 lbs. which completed his Slam! I also got in on the action, catching a bunch when Karl got tired and took a break. The cool part of the action was the Snook crushing the Rage Tail Frog. We had a total of 3 Slams today and Karl was beat! The total Snook catch was around 50 fish between 2 and 10 lbs.

I am with brothers Nathan and Mike out of Haulover Marina, we started out throwing Halco Poppa's. It didn't take to long and Nathan had a couple nice Trout in the boat. We had some Tarpon rolling around us so we stuck it out but everything just stopped as the tide got very high. We moved around the bay but with a full moon and some serious high water I wasn't sure waht was going on. I decided to go catch bait and then I ran to Government Cut. We were dropping on the edge when Mike got slammed, he fought the fish and eventually brought up a Mutton Snapper. We did this a few times catching Muttons and then Mike caught a nice Red Grouper. The boat traffic was getting bad so I decided to run back into the bay. I live chummed a few areas but no response, it really got tough around noon so we called it a morning.

Things can start to happen in the next few weeks once we get a good N.E blow. I will be fishing the N.Mami Beach areas waiting for the bait to start moving. The fishing down around Flamingo has been goo so if your up for a great day give me a call at 305 333 8149.

Thanks, Capt jimbo
