Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
Greetings.
Despite the nasty weather this past week fishing has remained stellar. The past few trips have yielded Redfish, Snook and bountiful Speckled trout...
First, we picked up 5 or more nice Redfish with one over slot (pic attached), which became the highlight of the day! This Redfish used all the tricks it new...ran near oyster lined structure, under the boat and near the trolling motor! All in all an epic fight. It was landed on 30 lb Power Pro braid and the IRT 300 Power Grip reel with 40 lb leader and a Gulp shrimp with chartreuse coloring!
On a separate trip, a weather cancellation, I came across a school of baby Tarpon... Friends, I cannot confirm that the Tarpon "are in" but on this trip I found a school of baby rollers that spread for about a quarter mile! Yes, baby Poon were rolling on the minute, every minute. It didn't take long before one 15 lb poon (pic attached) took my MirroDine plug in some VERY tight backcountry quarters and put on quite the show! Fierce runs and an acrobatic show finally led the baby poon boat side to the waiting Boga...It weighed in at 15 lbs but fought like a Poon twice it's size!
I have a few days left in May, July is filling and June has some spots! Contact us today!
