Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
The rainy season is here, this is not as bad as it sounds. June is when the rain (freshwater) starts moving fish Snook/Redfish out of Mangroves and out onto the open flats. This along with some bait runs finger Mullet/Pilchards/Minnows will concentrate the fish.
If this season is like last there wont be any complaints, we had plenty of days with big numbers. The is this is the time of year for back country Grand Slams, baby Tarpon, big Reds and lots of Snook. The down side is the bugs can get bad around the marina but once we leave we are ok.

I am with Mark and his friend Casey down at Flamingo, we started out looking for Tarpon. The laid up Tarpon were pretty thick a couple days before but not today. They caught a bunch of Trout up to 22 inches while
looking for Tarpon. We did get a bait in front of a roller once but it wasn't interested. I had netted 20 mullet and allot of the were eaten mostly by Sharks. We did get one back that was scaledwhich was a good sign. I netted some Herring and started to fish them out on the coast, Mark had a big fish eat and lost a big Redfish in the trees. I went thru allot of bait but no real quality catches. We moved on and found a giant Triple Tail floating which hit several different lures but we didn't catch it.
I ran back out front of Flamingo to catch the bottom of the low water. I rigged a live mullet and put it out on edge of channel, it took about 5 minutes and Casey was hooked up to a big Snook,
this was a great fight but the fish came of near the boat. We had a few Sharks come in and eat our baits but it was slow, and then we had a line peeling off the reel. This was a good fish and Casey had a solid hook up, I said its a big Snook and the fish made big runs. Casey did a good job but again the fish came unhooked near the boat. We stuck it out and had a couple more little Sharks and called it a day.
Call me 305 333 8149 if you would like to catch fish and have an enjoyable day on Biscayne Bay or Flamingo.
