Red hot fishing!

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

061209

I am fishing out of Everglades City today with Tom, Frank, Frank and John. I am here because I am fishing a tournament the following day. The bite was slow this morning, we landed a few Snook on gold spoons, Mackerel, Jacks and Ladyfish. The key was to find live bait, we couldn't and I didn't want to waste the 6 hr whole trip looking for it.

Today I am with buddies Paul and Bruce fishing the Backwater Series Redfish Dual held out of Caloosa marina in Goodland. We started the morning on a couple spots that produce Redfish for me we only had 1 bite which got Paul into the trees. We tried to get it out but eventually it it broke off. I thought that was a sign they were here so we stuck it out. No more Reds the whole day but we did catch a bunch of Snook. The bite was off and it showed at the weigh ins, plenty of teams did not weigh a fish.

I am fishing Flamingo today with Lee, Larry and Ron today at Flamingo. I started out on the coast and it didn't take long, the Snook are there and cooperating. This was a 2 boat trip, as the second boat pulled up to us we released 5 Snook as they we watched. They moved on and we caught Snook for the next 2 hours, well over 40 Snook up to 9 lbs. I moved to another spot and there were more Snook but they started catching Trout, they caught over a hundred Trout up to 3 lbs. We cast an assortment of lures Gulps, Rapalas, and gold spoons and they all caught their share. It was getting hot so I said lets make a run and look for Tripletails, it didn't take long and I spotted a big one. I slowed down and as I was looking for the Tripletail, I spotted a school of Permit. I told the guys to cast right at them, treating them like a Jack. The followed the Twitchin Rap but turn off at the boat. The Tripletail popped up but was moving very fast they are tough to catch like that. We pulled up to a marker caught a few Jacks and Blue runners which I put out and got eaten by a Cobia. Due to circumstances beyond my control, no Cobia! We ended up the day on some "laid up" Tarpon, Larry hooked a nice 50 lb. fish and Lee had a smaller one. Ron had a couple shots a 2 really big laid up Tarpon but both spooked . we ended up the day in a mullet mud with more Trout and big Ladyfish.

This is the way it will be for most of the summer give me a call at 305 333 8149 if you would like to have some action like this.

Flamingo Fishing Forecast:
