South Florida Report - Flamingo, Biscayne Bay & Miami

Capt. Jim Hobales
November 19, 2007
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

111607

Today's trip is at Flamingo, I am in my new boat and really hoping to break it in with some fish. I am fishing with Russ, John and his son John, the weather today is cold, windy and overcast. The best part of fishing at Flamingo is there is always somewhere to get out of the wind and that's what we did. The tide was low and getting much lower; I had to be careful not to spend to much time on the first flat which would get dry quickly! Big John started the morning off with a 28" Snook the baits were getting bust up pretty good a couple Jacks and Trout and we had to move. On the way off the flat we were casting in the potholes when I spotted a couple big Tripletail's floating on the surface. Russ cast his Twitch n Rap at them and had one follow and hit it, its kind of a tough fish to hook because they swim at you. we did this for the next hour the Tripletails all seemed to be over the 10 lb range which is an awesome fish.

The rest of the day was spot to spot catching a little bit of everything, we ended up the day bouncing Gulp Shrimp on shoreline with some current for Snook. The day ended there with all 3 guys catching numerous Snook, Snappers, Ladyfish and Trout.

I'm with Russ, John and John again today but we are fishing out of north Biscayne Bay and its really windy today. I was hoping to be able to get out of the inlet and fish some of the inshore wrecks but it's not happening. I fished every spot I knew from Haulover to Government Cut and the guys caught a lot of fish and they were physically tired. I looked up and Russ had his eyes closed John was sitting there taking a break and little John just kept casting, this is when you know you have done your job.

They caught Jacks, Snappers, Mackerels to 6 lbs. Blue Runners, Trout, Barracuda's and that's what they wanted, for and hour straight we were hooked up 3 at a time they had a blast.
