Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report
122107
This morning I am fishing with Sam Rose, I picked him up on Fisher Island and we headed to Stiltsville for Bonefish. There was a large area of bad weather hanging of the coast but by 9 am it cleared and beautiful conditions for about an hour and a half. Luckily we found some Bonefish but with the 68 degree cold water flowing out of the bay they were not really active although we did have one follow the shrimp until he saw the boat. The conditions deteriorated, I told Sam I have a deep water spot where we could catch some fish including Bones. I rigged a jig with jumbo Shrimp and Sam caught fish after fish; Grouper, Snapper, Jacks, Blue runners and then he had the big bite. The battle up and down in 16 feet of water continued for about five minutes with the fish coming off just below the boat. Sam asked what do you think it was. I told him I though it was a nice size Mutton Snapper because the live in the big fans on the bottom and that's they way they fight. After a couple more fish and waiting for another big bite we called it a day.
The Tarpon will be arriving off of Miami Beach soon hopefully with this full moon and a nice shrimp run. stayed tuned and I will keep you informed.
I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and hopefully you get your Christmas wish of more time on the water.
