Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Capt. Ariel Cabrera

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

They’re Still Biting

The snook opener wasn’t exactly the boom I expected this year due to the stormy weather. There were definitely less boats than the previous couple of years. It continues to be a mixed bag of catches for those that are dedicated. Snook and tarpon fishing remain pretty strong. The tripletail are starting to cooperate. And goliath fishing had been good too.

It is still advisable to getting that early morning start and continue to keep your eyes peeled for the storms. Soon we will have to consider the approaching cold fronts. We should be entering a period of stable and solid fishing. Get out there and enjoy it.

Some new clients that joined me on recent trips included Robert and Bobby Martinez. Bobby dated Flip Pallot’s daughter. I then discussed the occasions when the famed fisherman and I have crossed paths. Bobby would hook up with a monster snook that was unturnable. His dad would jump a tarpon and we also caught a 16” mangrove.

Later Mike Castner and son-in-law Kevin from New Jersey cruised the Glades with me on another adventure that entailed snook, tarpon, trout, and an alluring tripletail. This was a good day. We also connected to behemoth Goliaths and saw a few tarpon that we wished we could have caught.

Give me a call to set up the trip of a lifetime!
