Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Great news for the fishing forecast
The number of redfish being caught has certainly improved. Even the black drum bite has begun. Try using shrimp for both species. It has been super windy over the last several weeks but we have changed the float plan and still fished successfully. Read South Florida Sportfishing magazine’s Foul Weather Flamingo for some tips during these changing conditions. You’ll find some helpful ideas and solution for making the bad days good ones. It beats staying home!
Highlights from a two-day charter aboard a houseboat party include the following:
Day 1 One red drum, two trout, a tarpon, and an alligator (really)
Day 2 Six red drum, two snook, a jumped tarpon, a goliath
Special thanks to Francis Asanini for arranging this successful trip.
I also fished two days out of Chokoloskee island and many Spanish mackerel were caught along with large redfish, sheepshead, and grouper.
Slugger Joe Gigraziano was overtaken by two huge snook. One of these went airborne and then straight below a massive log. He did score two reds and some ten pound plus crevalles all on lures. That’s all he fishes! We were surrounded by 40-80 pound ‘poons but no takers.
Dr. Pedro Bustillo called me up and asked to put together two boats for his friends from Puerto Rico. Capt. Eric Vandemark joined me for this awesome trip. We caught everything this day even in 25 knots including hooking and fighting tarpon to 110 lbs.
Last but not least Kim, Rona, and Kate from Wisconsin joined me for a big fish day. Kate, a first-time 4 yr. old angler, helped Kim reel in a Crevalle that would weigh in at 10 pounds.
Get hooked,
