Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

We're Catchen' Em
The slow down in early January charters has been picking up along with some serious bites. The three cancellations I had fortunately resulted in some good fishing days later.
We’ve been catching drum, sheepshead, and some snook in the deep channels around Flamingo and Cape Sable. The key to this is to anchor on a deep spot. Sorry folks your push poles may not work in these applications. You need to anchor and stay put, patiently waiting for these subtle taps.
Cindy and Golf Professional “Butch” Pegoraro experienced a great day when they released 11 drum to eight pounds, trout, snapper, and jacks. Cindy also showed her husband Butch that she too can tussle a big snook out of the mangroves and get a tarpon to jump. Both were also super fly casters.
Oleg Sidorenko and former PRO Hockey sensation from the seventies “Valiri” joined me for another action-packed day in the Everglades. They landed approximately 50 bass in 5 hours. They took mostly chug bugs and plastics. Now at least I know a new word in Russian, “ribba” traduces to fish.
Catch ’em up
