Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Capt. Ariel Cabrera
February 25, 2004
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Flamingo: Inside or Out

Fishing has been good for trout, snook in both inside and outside waters. A trip with Jerry Carle and partner, also Jerry, produced a three pound trout and a nice keeper-sized redfish. They caught more trout, flounder, and a goliath. The CAGE was brought along on this trip and used successfully. If you haven’t read The Cage, in Outdoor Florida magazine, pick up a copy and provide me with some feedback.

Woodford Mooers caught two snook on fly one of which weighed in at seven pounds. He also landed a trout on fly and would join me on quite an adventurous journey through the Everglades. This one will be called Perseverance. Look for it in print over the next few months.

Once again, Russians Oleg Sidorenko and friend Sieva would team up to score around 40 largemouth’s all on artificial. Another exciting day and when he returns he promises to go to Flamingo. But, according to the last trip, I think Sieva will beat him to it because he had so much fun!

I also did some bonefishing in the Bay. The fish are just starting to show up and it should heat up real fast. Fortunately, I have a new motor and have already begun the break-in period. We should be in full swing for the grand slam season soon. Either way you choose, inside or out, it is a great time to go.
