Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Capt. Ariel Cabrera
January 30, 2007
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Winter Fishing at Peak

Flamingo has been on fire. This is peak time for all winter species. This includes spanish mackerel, pompano, bluefish, sheepshead, and drum.

The mackerel have been travelling close to shorelines. In fact, we caught over twenty five one afternoon with Dr. Aunon and his kids, Tyler and Logan. They also caught blues, pompano, trout and tripletail.

Lee and Kathy Vellacott fished with me to catch goliath, gag, and black grouper in the backwaters. We also caught some stray mackerel and very large snapper.

Dennis and Don Cataldo caught six redfish and three snook, one of which weighed 12 pounds. All on light tackle.

This is the guides busiest time of year. Book ahead in order to get the best times.

Fishing has been good, just remember to plan around winds and tides.
