Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Capt. Ariel Cabrera
February 27, 2007
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Pelagic Fishing at Peak

Flamingo’s mackerel, cobia, and Gulf fishery is hot. Water temepratures remain in the 60’s and steady. Shrimp and flashy jigs is all you really need. A chum bag helps but it not a must. The area near Marathon is a good starting place.

Trout fishing has also heated up all the way from the bay to the deep backcountry. The big fish will take topwater plugs. Try tandem jigs for more excitement and curly tails always work.

Redfishing has been fair to good like the snook. Snook fishing usually gets better as things start to warm and that will be very soon.

Tarpon time will be here before you know it. Best time is still real early or into the eves.
