Flamingo - Everglades National Park

Capt. Ariel Cabrera
March 30, 2007
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

High Winds?, head to Whitewater Bay!

The past several weeks have had daily gusts of winds exceeding 15 knots. I had one cancellation due to this in Biscayne Bay but it has not kept me from fishing the backwaters. The sheltered shorelines have had a good number of large trout and some good snook fishing. Soon the winds will lay down enough to fish wrecks and reefs off the coast.

I did have Susan Goda return with her son Brian and we headed to the Everglades Conservation area where we nailed over 30 fish in three hours. This was the best choice with the wild weather we’ve been having.

Those of you out there remember that the Lucerne Tourney is a few weeks away. At this point I am not sure if I’ll be participating. Thanks again to my fellow guides and friends for working the recent group trips in unison. It looks like we are having a very busy spring guide season.

I am still looking for a 21-22’ foot family/guide boat. If anyone knows of any good deals around, please contact me. And if anyone has a SWING AWAY TRAILER TONGUE for the boat they keep in a garage, PLEASE let me know- I need a few photos for a magazine article. I will do the picture taking and maybe trade out some lures, or maybe even some honeyholes. Don’t forget to read “Scents make Sense” Florida Sportsman magazine by yours truly. I have also joined the FS forum in order to reach out to the local fishing community some more.

TAKE A KID FISHING SPECIAL: Bring a child 14 years and under and receive up to $100 off a charter. Teaching and educating our children today about ecological environments and fisheries is one way of ensuring the future of sportfishing and wildlife conservation. Please call ahead for reservations and trip options and details.
