Everglades National Park - Flamingo

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

It's been a few weeks since my last report, the late season big tarpon have kept me pretty busy. Despite what some have reported about slow fishing due to bad weather in the area of Flamingo, along the Gulf coast it's been great. We've been putting big tarpon in the air now for more than six weeks, every day, day after day! Even when hurricane Isidore passed by the fish were not only biting but eating flies, lures, or bait. The fish we've boated have been from 50 to 90lbs and we've had shots at fish quite a bit bigger. Some days the flies and lures work better than anything else since all of the fish we're finding are pretty hungry. The tarpon bite should last until the first cold snap which will come later this month. This is a great time to be a guide. Most days my anglers are pretty tired when we get back to the ramp.
