Everglades National Park - Flamingo

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Biscayne Bay nights

This past weekend we fished one night for baby tarpon. It was a bit slow. We jumped three fish from 20 to 30lbs. The water temps were surprisingly high, from 71 to almost 74 degrees. We never saw any shrimp moving at all, anywhere we went. The moment the shrimp start to run the fishing at night should come alive.

Although the tarpon were largely absent, the night was not without its moments. At the end of the evening Jerry Erb of Seattle stuck a very large snook on 10-spin. It promptly took him on a tour of nearby fenders and pilings and flat cleaned his clock... He went to 12-spin, made two casts and struck another. After lots of tough fighting we boated, weighed, and released a snook that was slightly over 20lbs. That bright silver fish was one of the fattest and healthiest snook I've seen in years around the bridges. It was an outstanding catch!
