Scared Mullet=Tarpon - Snook

Capt. Jim Hobales
November 16, 2015
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

11-09-15

I fished Flamingo with Sabi and his two sons Joel and Danny today, It started out slow but we got into a few Snook and a big Redfish . Once we made it out to the Middle Cape area it was crazy with fish blowing up mullet but not really hitting our baits or lures. The winds picked up early in the morning which made our day kind of tough.

11-12-15 thru 11-14-15

I am in Islamorada for the Cheeca Logde All American Tournament, my angler is long time client Sam Rose. We started out quick on day 1 with a nice Snook and watched as fish were active all around us. The tide was falling and it seemed like it was going to get crazy buy it didn't . We ran to Middle Cape and found the Tarpon blowing up bait again, there were about 10 boats in there. It was tough fishing none of those boats ever hooked up. We left and followed the bait schools on the incoming tide and had some exciting visuals but only caught 1 34 inch Snook. We worked hard but they were focusing in on pods of mullet coming thru but not ours. There were some Tarpon on the shallow flat with their whole back out of the water but just out of Sam's range. We worked those fish until the tide got to high and then made a run for it. On the way back we made a couple stops and managed 1 more Redfish. We ended the day with 2 Snook and 1 Redfish for 305 points and were in 6 place.

Day two was much windier and I we tried a few spots with no luck. we did get into an area that had some fish blowing up bait in super shallow water but we couldn't get them to eat ours. We ran back to Middle cape and got a nice little creek to ourselves we managed 4 bites and caught 1. The Tarpon were almost jumping in the boat and Snook had their back out cruising the bank. We followed the bait on the incoming tide which was cool yesterday today was no different the Snook were on fire busting mullet schools. Sam had sever bites and finally hooked a really big Snook that came off 10 feet out from the boat. The frustration was setting in and a storm was getting closer and Sam said lets go, we had 35 miles to go so we headed back.sam snooksam red
