Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

111612

I am fishing Whitewater Bay with Paul Maida and his dad John today. It's been cool in the mornings and then a high around 80 degrees, just spectacular conditions. We started out quickly with some 15-20 inch Trout and Redfish up to 24 inches. We did this for the first 2 1/2 hours and then moved on looking to catch other species. We trolled for Groupers in the rivers and fished the coast until a N.W. wind picked up and we ran back inside. We hit a bunch of spots catching more Redfish,Jacks Trout, and Ladyfish. We caught a lot of fish and stayed busy all day.

I am fishing Flamingo with Joel and his Dad Jim today, part of a 2 boat trip. I ran to my first spot which is a series of pot holes in the grass and that's the only spot we needed. We fished that area from 645 A.M. until 1 P.M.. We started with shrimp under corks and caught fish from our first cast until our last. I tried to keep count and was good up until 50 Redfish then we started to triple up. Jim said why don't you catch a couple so at 3 at a time it got confusing. We were catching 1-2 lb. Jacks as well so throw in about 30 of them and Jim and Joel were all smiles. Jim even caught a really nice Snook and Trout to round out his Slam! The other Boat called and said they were at the dock and had crushed them at the Cape so we called it a day!

I am with Archie and Chris this morning I picked them up on the Miami River and headed south to Stiltsville. It was cold and Breezy out of the N.W. @25 mph so my original game plan had to change. We fished the main channel off of Key Biscayne and caught small Muttons, Mangroves and missed a couple of bigger hits. I said we should go fish Government Cut it will be more protected. We weren't there 5 minutes and the rods doubled over These guys caught Mangrove Snappers, Grouper,Yellowtails ,Jacks, 8lb.Sheepshead , Cuda's, 3 types of Porgy's, 2 Spanish Hogfish, and 30 or so Grunts. We did have several good fish that really doubled over the rods and came off . All in all they had a lot of fun catching 12 different species today. There was a school of Tarpon rolling in the Cut which is a great sign for an early Tarpon season!

The cold weather has them schooled up so its can be a lot of catching if you would like to try one of these trips give me a call at 305 333 8149
